DRaM Community

DRaM (Dalton, Rawthorpe and Moldgreen)

As part of our vision to transform Huddersfield for Jesus, we are seeking to create a living Christian presence in the DRaM area. We are actively partnering with other churches and organisations, Christians and local authorities, to seek Kingdom change in this part of our town. We are creating a missional community where, rather than expecting people to come to us, as in the great commission, we
are going to them.

We are creating a missional community through:

– meeting felt needs in the community and supporting families through food parcels, Christmas Dinner hampers, signposting families to other support providers such as the food bank, Bread and Butter Project, Christmas Magic Appeal and Zarach.
– holding community fun days based around the Nativity, Creation, Easter and providing Autumn activity packs at Halloween.
– creating Life Groups where Christians who live in the DRaM area can gather together in homes to support, encourage and care for each other, pray and study God’s word and actively engage in the community.

Regular activities include:

Shoulder to Shoulder
A peer support group for parents and full-time carers of children with special needs who live in the DRaM area.

HD5 Baby and Toddler Group
The HD5 Baby and Toddler Group was set up to help parents connect with other local parents and to provide a safe, fun space for babies and toddlers to play.

Community Cafe Church
In partnership with Rawthorpe St James CofE, we have launched a monthly family service including songs, games, crafts, stories, drama, short talks and time to chat over a meal.

Zarach
We have partnered with Zarach to ‘Give Every Head a Bed’ in Huddersfield. We launched the Zarach Huddersfield Hub in the HD5 area and it has now expanded to cover the whole of Huddersfield.

Pray DRaM
We regularly prayer walk the DRaM area, praying for the community, schools, businesses, families and individuals.

ENERGIZE
We have been running a weekly ‘Bible Art Club’ in one of the local primary schools and in September 2023 we will be launching ‘ENERGIZE’ after-school clubs.
