611 Bus Ministry

Wednesdays 7.00pm & Saturdays 8.00pm
Grace Centre then out on the streets

611 Bus MinistryOur 611 Bus Ministry began in the year 2000 through contact with street girls and others with life-controlling problems. Volunteers go out on the streets of Huddersfield with our single story, access-type 611 Bus providing a friendly face, refreshments and support to drug addicts, alcoholics, homeless people and street working girls.

The Six One One Ministry shows the love of Jesus to vulnerable people in the community. We aim to support people to break the cycle of life-controlling problems. We go out onto the streets every Saturday night on a specially-adapted welcoming bus, offering a listening ear, food, friendship and prayer support to street workers, alcoholics, drug users and the homeless. We signpost to other agencies and provide a broad social network of support within the Church’s wider community.

The name of this ministry comes from Isaiah 61:1 and reflects our mission to bring help to the poor and to the needy.

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners."
